October 15 – November 15, 2014
The Family that praise together stays together. Almost one month and a half before the phase three will end. It is really inspiring to be a great part of God’s ministry, the One Year in Mission-NPUC is still celebrating God’s goodness. Despite of trials, hardships, and failures taht they encountered they still remained faithful working with God in His vineyard. Ellen G. White says, “the greatest want of the world is the want of men – men who will not be bought or sold, men whose conscience is as true to duty, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.” (Education 57). Yes, it is true that God wants men and women to become a missionary for His ministry that is why One Year in Mission is there.
For the month, the One Year in Mission team organized a concrete program that built rapport to the community of Batangas City especially to the young people. The Transcend team together with the Urbanturer team conducted a five-day seminar, dated October 18-22, at Tea Leaves shop with the title: “Kiss Me Baby, MUAH LOVE.LEARN.LIVE (Mutual Understanding About How to Love, Learn and Live)… This seminar is about Love, Courtship and Marriage which prepares the mind of the young people in their future relationship inserting the Biblical Principles of Love, this program created a big impact to the young people which has the average attendees of 30 individual including professional educators. Through this activity, the One Year in Mission established good friendship with the outside church young people who are seeking God as their foundation of relationship. Through the help of Almighty God, the said program became successful.
On October 25, 2014, Sabbath, Anthony Stanyer, the OYiM-SSD Coordinator, invited the OYiM-NPUC to attend the Youth Connect that was held at Yaweh Resort, Laguna handled by the Central Luzon Conference to promote One Year in Mission, its mission and activities, to all young people who attended the said program, for them to feel the enjoyment of service, the Youth Connect organizers conducted a compassion activity at the city of Laguna in the afternoon of that Sabbath day.
To fully introduce the One Year in Mission, the OYiM-NPUC team conducted a first Batangas-Wide Youth Alive Convention at Lipa Adventist Academy, Bugtong, Lipa City on October 26-November 2, 2014. There is an average of 125 young people coming from different churches/district of Batangas province who attended the said program. During the opening, Hon. Donato Linatoc, the City Councilor of Lipa, give an inspirational message about drug-free life for young adult. The young people who attended the seminar realized the importance of unity and recreational activities in the life of the Adventist Youth.
As requested by the Barangay 24 of Batangas City to have a Basketball league for the youth, the One Year in Mission-NPUC team is eager to give happiness to them as their Christmas gift. The said activity is an on-going program of the OYiM-NPUC which make Seventh-day Adventist well known to the community of Batangas.
Let us pray that that the guidance of the Holy Spirit be with this missionaries who are working in God’s vineyard. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
