A compassion project: Dispatcher ministry

Our team were assigned to share compassion through helping the dispatchers to call for passengers. We helped 10 dispatchers, offered them water, burger and The Great Hope book. We also gave some reading materials to the passengers.
Through this activity we were able to share God's love to the dispatchers and the passengers. They were all curious why we have done that, so they asked what group are we, what do we do... Etc etc. And that gave us the opportunity to share something about Jesus!
After the activity, the Batangas youth leaders shared their thoughts about the experience. All of us were blessed and become much more grateful about our own jobs. We have realized that being a dispatcher was never easy. You'd be shouting and staying under the heat of the sun! That is why we are thankful to God for granting us the opportunity to help them even in a simple way.
God bless us all! May we all practice sharing compassion every day of our lives!

We Christians should be the hand of Christ in reaching the needy people. The youth of today are called to do for Christ. As we answer the calling of God, we have to do something. In Matthew 25:45 "He will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." Anything we do to others, we do it to God. Last Sunday, We are assigned to do a compassion activity at the market. We shared God's love through helping them to carry their heavy loads and by giving them The Great Hope books and pamphlets. We also offered words of prayer to the vendors.
We are so much blessed to hear their expression of gratitude. Saying, "Meron pa palang mga kabataan na matutulungin". We should not forget the little things, a helping hand, a smile and to work with them. We are blessed to be a blessing to others.

"A Fruit for a Cigarette"
A Compassion Project

Ephesians 5:2
"And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

A fruit for a cigarette ministry is an idea that help chain smokers to save them from the dangerous effects of a single stick of cigarette by giving them fruit in exchange. This idea became a reality with the help of Adventist Youth Leaders of Batangas City. It was Sunday morning July 27, 2014 when the youth leaders combined their efforts for the compassion activity. We divided ourselves into four groups and conducted 4 different activities. Our color code was green and so we proceed to our area which is at the Pier. When we arrived, we seek totally for God's presence and so we pray before we start. After which we disseminate ourselves to that area. While I'm observing my group mates, at first they were being rejected but as leaders as they called, they did not gave up the fight and still continue to other individuals. Having a 3 pieces of apples and 3 great hope books to each of them, they managed to give it all with different stories and experiences. They shared their stories on how they were blessed by being God's channel of blessing. Talking to the smokers and asking them to exchange their cigarette for a fruit seems weird and unhealthy in our part because of the smoke coming from their cigarettes. But God works with us and so we sacrificed our health and adjusted to them, so that they will feel that there is a God who cares for them, And showed His love by using us to reach these people. After giving them the book Great hope and the fruit in exchange of their cigarette, we prayed for them.
Realizing that we were able to save them from the harmful effects of that single stick cigarette was indeed a blessing.
Every soul is precious to God, let us reach them in any possible way that we can. No matter how simple our strategies, we can be sure that God will magnify our efforts. Our God is faithful and He never fails. #oyimnpuc#Godslove #compassion #hopebatangas

It was Sunday morning of July 27, 2014, the OYIM team together with the youth leaders of different districts in Batangas joined force in the compassion activity. The said activity was named "Burger for cause". The OYIM team and the youth leaders distributed burgers to the people and begged for any amount in exchange to the product they gave. The collected money purposely designed to help our Kababayans who were greatly affected by the typhoon Glenda. The other reason why they were collecting money is to touch the hearts of people that they may feel the joy of helping the needy. It was a successful activity because 56 people in Batangas City heart-fully gave some amount of money to help our affected Kababayans. These people, at the same time were blessed through prayers and free religious books that the OYIM and youth leaders distributed.

Last July 20, 2014, the OYIM together with ACS helped the people who were affected by typhoon glenda in rebuilding/cleaning their houses. It was fulfilling to know that somehow we had helped them in their situation.

OneYear In MIssion(OYIM) delegates and staffs actively participated the cleaning of Batangas City Plaza and eagerly distributed free snacks to the government employees and less fortunate members of society on July 17, 2014.
Due to the devastating power of typhoon Glenda, Batangas City was one of the affected areas and suffered terrible result. In connection to this, OYIM delegates coming from different conferences and missions under NPUC who are assigned in the urban ministry in Batangas City started their ministry through community services. They enthusiastically removed fallen branches of trees and leaves at the Plaza in Batangas City. At the same time, they also offered free snacks to the government employees and to the less fortunate members of society begging for help.
